The Project
When I turned 50, I traveled to Albion in search of my ancestors. I discovered a connection, not only to the land, but to the earth itself. When I returned to California, I saw my home with new eyes. In the course of the next year, I went on a journey through this biome, connected by a cauldron and a task to a group of Druids 5,000 miles away. I had been called to join them, to brew the Awen, the very source of poetic inspiration. Each month I stirred my cauldron as they stirred theirs, exploring my land to find the ingredients in my very different forest that corresponded to those they gathered in theirs. At the end of the year I returned and together we finished our task.
Now I am called to return, to spend a year in Albion, to learn that land through a full turning of the seasons and write the story of my journey. You can follow it as it unfolds, through my blog, through the music and stories I will share as I travel and learn and grow. At the end of that year, I will have an album of songs and a book to share with a wider audience, and something to add to the ways we humans live upon the land and with each other. For if we do not learn to live with each other and with the rest of the planet, the next generation will be left with the problems we are creating. I think our work begins with learning to listen and to remember where we came from and who we are. We don't have to return to the land of our ancestors, but we do have to heal the hurt that was done to us, and that which we are doing to each other before we can build a future we can all live in.

The Songs
I funded my first and second trips by busking in my local transit stations. As an experienced traditional singer I had a repertoire of proven material, and now I have begun writing my own, in traditional style, for our times. I call it modern mythology and you can sample it here on my soundcloud.

The Stories
I blog about the connections I make to the earth in the city, wild places in my area, and my travels. As a modern Pagan I weave spirituality, music, and adventure into weekly installments. Meet the chickens, see the DIY homestead, and find out just how far I can travel on two feet, a bicycle, and public transit!
